Memorial Day Weekend
Instead of heading to China Hat for a weekend of camping and riding (since I’m not suppose to be doing much riding anyway), we spent the long weekend at home.
Friday’s highlight – Nolan getting to try out his new 4-wheeler for the first time! The boy took to it like a fish to water. We’re in so much trouble, it’s not even funny. I have a great video, but can’t seem to figure out how to post it. If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know.
Saturday’s highlight – I ended up having to work the first part of the day, but it was with great clients, so it wasn’t bad at all. When I got home, we loaded everyone up (us, kid, dogs) and headed out for an afternoon of mushroom hunting. We didn’t do so great, but at least we walked away with a few. The pups and boy were happy to get to go roam around the woods.
Sunday’s highlights – We just hung around the house for most of it, working on projects, playing outside. We made a trip to town for some ice cream and to pick up a movie. Nolan loved the ice cream cone! Of course, the camera was nowhere in sight. He devoured that thing like a champ – hardly any mess (he wasn’t about to let any of that good stuff get away from him) and he defended it from the dogs like a pro.
Monday’s highlight – Brandon went for an early morning trail ride (I was a bit jealous, but whatever. A few more months and I’ll be able to ride again – so excited). Nolan and I spent the morning playing around outside on his 4-wheeler. Once it started to get pretty toasty in the afternoon, we loaded everyone up and headed to the lake to cool off. The boy loves to play in the water – almost as much as the pups.
Daddy and Nolan were splashing in the water. At least it wasn’t splashing in the bathtub – yay for no messes to clean up!
Judging by that face, I’m thinking the water was a bit cold. I was too big of a sissy to get in above my ankles – it wasn’t that warm out side!
It was nice to not have to unpack the camping gear after a long weekend. As much as I love camping, it sure makes for a rough Sunday evening (or Monday evening in this case).
