Holy crud!

My baby’s now starting to look like a big boy.  I think it’s the haircut.

On Monday he went in for his first haircut from my hair gal, Erinn.  It wasn’t great timing on our part as it was right during what should have been his nap time.  I thought he was behaving like a turd, Erinn said he was much better than most kids – I think she was just saying that because we were there, I’m sure we were the beauty shop talk for a few minutes after we left. =)

I didn’t realize how long the boy’s hair was until it was all done being cut.  He definitely looks more grown up now.  Erinn asked if I was going to cry – not so much (right now, I’m only crying over country songs with the name Amy in them – it’s a pregnancy thing).  Apparently, a LOT of mom’s cry during the kid’s first haircut.

Nolan’s new favorite game is peek-a-boo.  He’s always loved this game, but he’s now bumping it up a notch.  He likes to hide behind the curtains, wait for you to call around for him (oh Nolan, where’d you gooo….), then pop out and surprise you.  The boy can play this game for hours.  It’s even more fun if it involves getting chased around the house.  I’m sure this will result in many “Oh crap!  Where’s the kid!” moments in the future.

And the boy was all about the lovin’s yesterday.  Big boy hair or not, he’s still a snuggler.

I love the day after a hair cut, when you notice all those little hairs that didn’t quite get cut – and how much of a boy he looks like. The first haircut is always a bit traumatic for everyone involved, but it looks like y’all survived, and he’ll be an old pro at it soon. And you won’t cry. Not a lot, anyway.
