I’ve still got it!
It’s official, I am still the sturgeon good luck charm.
This weekend, Nolan spent the weekend with his Crazy Grandma, Grandpa Kelly, and Auntie Jo up in Joseph. As to be expected, he was spoiled. He came home with more toys, was showed off to the town by his proud grandparents and aunt, took in a couple basketball games, ate like a king, and spent some time being the cafe mascot.
Brandon and I spent our child free weekend fishing for sturgeon on the Columbia River and doing taxes. While the taxes weren’t super exciting, the fishing was great.
We left the house at 4:30 Saturday morning. When we got to the river, the water was glass (almost unheard of on the Columbia). It was a bit cold, but no wind, and we had a little heater to keep us happy. By the afternoon, it was even sunny – which was perfect for a nap. I love napping in the sun, not much beats it. I managed to catch the first fish of the day.
My eyes are closed and it’s definitely not a great photos, but you get the idea of what my first little bugger of the day looked like. They’re not pretty, but they’re very fun to catch and really good to eat.
Although I caught the first fish, Brandon caught the largest – and it was a keeper! You can only keep fish between 43 inches and 55 inches. We ended the day with the following stats – 7 fish in the boat, 1 of the 7 was a keeper, 3 fish we had hooked but they got off before we got them to the boat, and several many bites but no hooks. So, overall, it was a great fishing day, especially for winter. Best fishing day the boat’s seen in a while – and I’m saying it was all thanks to me.
